The Best Vegan Protein Quorn June 4, 2013 Australia, Green Living, healthy products, product innovation, TDapproved, weight management 4 Comments The Best Vegan Protein Quorn I’ve recently started sharing my love for a wonderful product Quorn on my facebook page, so thought I may give you all some extra information on the nutritional benefits so that you yourself can understand in a little more depth, why these products, made from a fungus that is made into a mycoprotein, is so nutritionally phenomenal. Given I am a strong advocate for boosting your fibre, protein, and omega 3’s for both health and weight management benefits, these products fit the bill to a tee! Being a plant based protein, they are created from a far more sustainable source than many of the other foods that provide such good quality protein and readily absorbed forms of omega 3’s. Below are a number of tables that help clearly show the nutritional advantages of Quorn… happy reading! Due to the quorn protein structure quite closely resembling animal proteins structure, the mouth feel and ability to take up flavours is more similar than a number of other plant protein types. As you can see, pretty special. Oh, and it can taste pretty good too, just use it as you would beef in recipes i.e the mince in a bolognese or chilli con carne, or the pieces in a stir fry. You will be full for hours! You can find these plain varieties of quorn (mince or pieces) in the freezer section of most supermarkets, so just keep an eye out for them when looking in the plant based protein section. Would love to hear if you have already tried these products (or when you do try them), what you actually think of them, how you prepared them, and how full you felt after eating them! Log in to Reply Travelling Dietitian June 4, 2013 Their plain varieties i.e mince and pieces do not list any gluten containing ingredients. The flavoured and pre-made meals do have some gluten containing ingredients used as flavours. I recommend going for the plain versions anyway and cooking them up yourself with fresh herbs and spices! I say to you, I definitely get annoyed whilst folks think about concerns that they just do not realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and defined out the entire thing with no need side effect , other folks could take a signal. Will probably be again to get more.
